Join our Elmer Day celebrations with an afternoon of fun for all the family.
Created by David McKee, Elmer the Patchwork Elephant, is a popular children's character and a firm favourite in households across the world.
Elmer is the elephant who just wants to fit in but can’t help standing out. When he tries to alter his appearance though, he quickly discovers that the other elephants no longer recognise him. It’s only when it begins to rain, and the grey paint that Elmer has covered himself with starts to disappear that Elmer's true colours are revealed, much to the surprise and delight of his friends who preferred his multicoloured exterior after all! Elmer is a wonderfully timeless story of diversity, friendship and the importance of identity, and we want to bring this heart-warming tale to life.
The afternoon will involve making your own elephant ears to look just like Elmer, creating your very own patchwork animal at our collage station and playing pin the tail on the elephant. Every child will also get to take home an Elmer Day Medal.
Kickstart your half-term with Elmer-themed games, crafts and stories!
