Hiromi Kawakami: presented by the Japan Foundation and Modern Culture

Wednesday 1st March 2017 7pm - 8pm 107 Charing Cross Road Literary Event, Signing, Chargeable Event

We are delighted to be partnering with the Japan Foundation and Modern Culture to bring Hiromi Kawakami to Foyles for this event as part of Japan Now 2017.

Kawakami has been a long standing favourite of Foyles customers and booksellers alike. Perfectly constructed, poetic and moving, Strange Weather in Tokyo was the first of Kawakami’s novels to be published in English, introducing readers to the dreamlike state of her writing.

Nakano Thrift Shop is similar in its delicate and funny portrayal of Japanese life. Exploring the mystery that lurks in the ordinary, her second novel traces the seemingly imperceptible threads that weave together a community and the knots that bind us to one another.

Now in 2017 Pushkin Press will be publishing the highly surreal short story collection, Record of a Night too Brief - an anthology set to once again captivate its English readers.

It is with great pleasure that we, along with the Japan Foundation and Modern Culture, invite you to join us for a night of conversation with one of Japan’s most popular contemporary novelists.

Venue: The Auditorium at Foyles, Level 6, 107 Charing Cross Road
Tickets: £8 or £5 for Foyalty members. You must have your Foyalty card on you on the night to present at the door. Not a Foyalty member? Sign up for free here.

Please note, no physical tickets will be issued (to save the trees!), the email confirmation you receive is proof of your booking.

Refunds
We are unable to issue refunds to customers unable to attend the event without at least 24 hours' notice. To request a refund of your ticket purchase or purchases, email events@foyles.co.uk with your details and request.
