Bookshop Barnies - Kerry Brown on Ballot Box China: Grassroots Democracy in the Final Major One Party State

Tuesday 19th July 2011 6:30pm - 8:30pm 107 Charing Cross Road Literary Event, Free Event

Since 1988, China has undergone one of the largest, but least understood experiments in grassroots democracy. Across 650,000 villages in China, with over one million elections, 300,000 officials have been elected. Join us to debate whether this can be seen, as the Chinese government believes, as a step towards 'Democracy with Chinese characteristics'.

Time: 6:30 for drinks and a 6:45 pm start
Tickets: FREE Email futurecitiesproject@gmail.com to reserve
