Bristol in the early 1960s: Joseph Tremaine Ellington is a Barbadian ex-policeman who, like many of his generation in the West Indies, has come to the UK to make a new life in the mother country. But the land of opportunity is not all it is cut out to be. It is not just the weather that is cold: so is the welcome. Soon, Ellington is enlisted by community bigwig, Earl Linney, in the search for a young West Indian woman who has disappeared, and with few allies in a hostile and prejudiced city, he must keep his wits about him. This is an atmospheric, confident debut, set in the rough world of Bristol nightlife.
Join the author, Mark Wright, to celebrate the launch of his debut novel
Mark was born in Leicestershire in 1965. He was employed in various roles within the music industry before working as a private investigator. He retrained in 1989 and spent the next twenty years in the mental health and probation services in the UK, specialising in risk assessment.
