Macmillan Prize Exhibition
|The Macmillan Prize exhibition is a free exhibition at the Gallery at Foyles showcasing works from the 2016 Macmillan Prize for Illustration. The prize was established by Macmillan Children’s Books to stimulate new work from young illustrators in art schools, and to help them take the first steps in their professional lives. This coveted award, which was established over 30 years ago, has discovered such talent as Sara Fanelli, Lucy Cousins, Emily Gravett, Ross Collins and Gemma Merino, amongst many others.
The 2016 judging panel was made up of renowned illustrator David Roberts, Fiona Noble, children’s and YA reviewer for The Bookseller; Florentyna Martin, Children’s Buyer at Waterstones; Chris Inns, Art Director at Macmillan Children’s Books; Emily Ford, Senior Commissioning Editor at Macmillan Children’s Books; and Suzanne Carnell, Publisher for Two Hoots.
The panel went through nearly 250 entries for the award before picking three winners and 21 highly commended students from art schools throughout the country.
