Nick Frost: Truths, Half Truths and Little White Lies

Thursday 8th October 2015 7pm - 8pm 107 Charing Cross Road Literary Event, Chargeable Event

"If I’m going to tell the story of a life, my life, then I need to tell it warts and all... That to me is a better reflection of a human’s life".

Beloved comic writer and actor Nick Frost shot to fame in Channel 4 TV series Spaced as Mike, the maladjusted, military-obsessed sidekick to Simon Pegg's Tim. A familiar face (and voice) on British TV, Frost has since lent his inimitable talents to hits like Mr. SloaneHyperdrive and Money. He also played Santa Claus in Doctor Who.

Appearing alongside friend and collaborator Pegg in Edgar Wright's 'Cornetto trilogy' (Shaun of the DeadHot FuzzThe World's End), Frost has become as known for his work on the big screen as he is for the small: co-writer (with Pegg) of 2011 sci-fi comedy Paul, the actor has also starred in hit films from The Adventures of Tintin to Attack the BlockKinky Boots and Snow White & the Huntsman. He also danced the salsa in Cuban Fury.

Having cornered the market in intelligent, nuanced comic characters, and acting alongside Hollywood stars like Chris Hemsworth and Philip Seymour Hoffman, you might be forgiven for thinking Frost's rise to stardom was easy. But, in truth, the Essex-born funnyman fought his way to the top through decades of family strife and personal problems. In his new memoir Truths, Half Truths and Little White Lies, Frost tells the story of a home blighted by alcoholism and illness, where sudden misfortune left his family with nothing. Skipping from job to job after leaving school early, the actor spent years pursued by his own demons.

Sad, dark and painful too, Truths is also vivid, exhilarating and honest. The humour for which we know and love Frost as an actor combines with a love of life and other people that sets him apart as an incredible storyteller, a unique voice, and a writer to watch out for.

Expect to be enthralled and entertained at this fantastic publication-day event with Nick as he discusses his life and career, as well as signing copies of Truths, Half Truths and Little White Lies.
