EXCLUSIVE LONDON EVENT Peter Bradshaw – Night of Triumph
On VE Night, 1945, the teenaged princesses Elizabeth and Margaret were allowed to leave Buckingham Palace incognito and join their subjects in street parties and festivities. The Palace later issued a statement that their night out had passed without incident - but what if things had turned out differently? In Night of Triumph, Guardian journalist and critic Peter Bradshaw, creator of the acclaimed spoof Not Alan Clark's Diaries, has fashioned this scrap of cultural memory into a comedy thriller full of priceless moments.
Peter will be at Foyles in conversation with crime fiction and film expert Barry Forshaw, whose latest book British Crime Film: Subverting the Social Order is on the shelves now.
Venue: the Gallery at Foyles, 113 - 119 Charing Cross Road, London WC2H 0EB
