A Monster Calls introduces us to Conor O' Malley, a 13 year old boy, whose life already has its challenges, so he is not thrilled when he starts being visited by a monster. To tell you any more would ruin the story but what I can say is that from the opening line to the last this story engulfs you with wonder and heartbreak.


You will fall instantly in love with Conor who is observant and astute, as he faces difficulties that adults would struggle with. Jim Kay's astonishingly beautiful illustrations are a unique and stunning addition that complements the story perfectly.


This lovely edition celebrates the release of the new film, directed by J.A. Bayona, who is best known for his film The Orphanage. The book also includes chapters about the making of the film, which Patrick Ness wrote the screenplay for, and interviews with the cast members.


A Monster Calls is released in UK Cinemas on 1st January 2017.
