You've got your idea. You've written some, maybe all, of your novel. You work on it every day. You hid it in your closet ten years ago and vowed you'd come back to it. Either way, now is your time. Today only, aspiring novelists have the chance to pitch their book ideas directly to award-winning literary agents. Curtis Brown - agents to Howard Jacobson, Jennifer Egan, and David Mitchell to name a few - are in search of new talent, and the full team will be out at Foyles to meet authors one-to-one throughout the day. Present the opening page of your work-in-progress and deliver a 30-second pitch to a member of the Curtis Brown books team. Your agent will read your page, hear your pitch and draw on their expertise to provide on-the-spot verbal feedback. You only have 6 minutes, so make sure you're ready to shine! Surgery:

Following your pitch session, you will be shown through to the Café at Foyles, where you and two of your fellow writers will have ten minutes to pose any questions you have to one of the Curtis Brown literary team. 4.30pm: Prize Draw:

For the day's final event, joint CEO of Curtis Brown and MD of the Book Department, Jonny Geller; Sam Humphreys, publisher of the Penguin imprint, Michael Joseph; novelist Salley Vickers and debut author and Curtis Brown Creative graduate Tim Glencross join us to discuss the journey of a book from pen to publication, each of them drawing on their own experience to help guide you through the publishing process. Everyone who registers to attend Discovery Day has the chance to win a detailed written reader's report from Curtis Brown, responding to the writer's first three chapters and one page synopsis. However, if you would like to take your chances, we will be running a Wild Card Queue instore on Saturday 22 September. If a customer who has already been allocated a one-to-one pitch does not claim their place, we will be able to offer their pitch time to a person chosen from the Wild Card Queue.
Please note, we cannot guarantee that by joining the Wild Card Queue you will get a chance to pitch. You may well spend the day in Foyles without speaking to an agent (though we'd argue a day in Foyles is not such a bad thing!).
