Here at Foyles, we're proud to be an independent bookseller and this year we’re teaming up with some of your favourite indie publishers to bring you our first ever one-day winter children’s festival. The day will be jam-packed with arts and crafts, author visits and cosy fun – Snowball promises to inspire bookworms of all ages this season.

You can find the full day’s line up and ticketing information below.

The first 30 children through the door from 9:30am will receive a limited edition Foyles goody bag. 10:00am – 10:50am There’s Not One

Join art expert and children’s author Jennifer Higgie for a reading of her new book There’s Not One, followed by a collage workshop perfect for kids aged between 3-7 years.

11:00 am – 11:50pm Building Boy
Author Ross Montgomery and David Litchfield are ready to take children on a magical journey with The Building Boy. When a little boy makes a model of his Grandma out of her old building materials, she sweeps him away on a thrilling adventure. Join them both for story time and live drawing!

12:00pm – 12:50pm Handstand
A fun workshop inspired by Lisa Stickley's new book Handstand, a light-hearted tale which teaches children one of life’s great truths: practice makes perfect. Little ones can make pictures by 'dressing up' the main character, Edith, in pre-made sticky patterned outfits. Childen can also learn about collage and block printing along the way,

Afternoon session

2:00pm – 2:50pm Lesser Spotted Animals
Fed up with the same old animals? Bored with bears? Tired of tigers? Try Lesser Spotted Animals, a brand new book about the wonderfully wow wildlife we never get to see. Join Horrible Histories illustrator Martin Brown for his hilarious new foray into a wild, wild world!

3:00pm – 3:50pm Snow and Magic
Join the queen of historical fiction for a very snowy event. Emma Carroll will be talking about her most wintery books, The Snow Sister and Frost Hollow Hall. With ice skating on the lake, ghostly rescues and an unexpected Christmas present, Emma will explain how she wrote her stories, and children can expect to join in from the start.

4:00pm – 4:50pm The Girl Who Saved Christmas
Come and enjoy this magical new Christmas story with number one bestselling author Matt Haig!

The Girl Who Saved Christmas follows the ‘instant classic’, A Boy Called Christmas, the story of how a young boy called Nikolas grew up to become Father Christmas.

Matt Haig will introduce you to a whole host of new characters from this second adventure in his Christmas series, as well as old favourites including Little Noosh and the Truth Pixie. You’ll meet eight-year-old Amelia – the first child to wake up on Christmas Day to find a stocking at the end of her bed; Queen Victoria – when Father Christmas’ sleigh crashes into Buckingham Palace; Mr Creeper - who doesn’t believe in Christmas, Charles Dickens - who finds inspiration for a new Christmas story and a whole family of big, smelly trolls.
