Gollancz Writers’ Day at the Phoenix - Morning

Join science fiction and fantasy publisher Gollancz, in the cosy Phoenix Artist Club (just across the road from Foyles, Charing Cross Road) for a morning of workshops and talks focused on the mechanics and skills needed by the modern writer.

The session includes a fascinating insight into the life of the agent from a top literary agent, a speed-workshopping session where small groups of attendees will benefit from a series of 15 minute talks with different authors to discuss the business of being a writer; and a panel discussion. The session will run from 10am until 1pm, and will be followed by a signing. Space is very limited!

Planning or Pantsing?

How do you start and then continue writing an entire novel? Detailed plot outlines vs just sitting down and writing? Join Alastair Reynolds, Pat Cadigan, Aliette de Bodard and Adam Roberts as they debate methods and share their own tips for creating a book.






Speed Writing-Advice

Attendees will break into small groups of 3-5 and have the opportunity to sit round a table and discuss any aspects of their novel, the writing process, or ‘how to get published’ with some of their favourite authors. Every 20 minutes a bell will ring and the author you get to speak to will be switched.
