In this event, Man Booker Prize shortlisted author and poet Jeet Thayil joins us to discuss his new novel, The Book of Chocolate Saints, where he examines the changing social and cultural landscapes of contemporary Indian life.
From the Bombay to Beat poets, Moraes to Ginsberg, Jeet Thayil’s thrilling new work gives us a fictionalised history Mumbai’s literary scene, satarises orientalist western attitudes and navigates the complexity of the diasporic experience, while also exploring human behaviour through the lives of artists.
Working as a journalist for 23 years before writing his debut novel Narcopolis, which was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize and the Man Asian Literary Prize, and awarded the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature.
