Samantha Wynne-Rhydderch - Banjo

Monday 11th June 2012 - 6:30pm 107 Charing Cross Road Literary Event, Free Event

Currently Leverhulme Poet in Residence at the National Museum of Wales, award-winning Welsh poet Samantha Wynne-Rhydderch follows Not in These Shoes, shortlisted for Wales Book of the Year, with her third collection, Banjo. Commemorating Captain Scott's 1912 arrival at the South Pole in a clutch of remarkable elegies and set-pieces on life, death and survival, Banjo gives us new psychological insight into the lives of the early Antarctic pioneers, as well as an extraordinary account of the role played by music in surviving the long Antarctic winters. Foyles welcomes Samantha for a performance of her work, followed by a signing and drinks.

Venue: the Cafe at Foyles, First Floor

Tickets: Free, but need to be reserved by adding the required number to the basket below or by emailing events@foyles.co.uk. No physical tickets will be issued: the order confirmation you will receive after adding ticket/s to your basket is your proof of reservation.
