David Crystal & Hilary Crystal - Wordsmiths & Warriors

Thursday 26th September 2013 6:30pm - 7:30pm 107 Charing Cross Road Literary Event, Chargeable Event

A journey back in time through the history of language took David and Hilary Crystal on a very real journey through the British Isles, discovering the places and personalities that shaped our mother tongue. Wordsmiths & Warriors was born of their odyssey, chronicling the writers and scholars who changed the course of English with the pen, and the invading warriors who did the same with the sword. David, one of the world's foremost experts on linguistics, and his wife Hilary, who trained as a speech therapist and and captured their discoveries on film,, join us to tell the stories behind the ceaselessly shifting phenomenon we call language, as they discuss the odyssey that inspired their new book.
