The White Review No.8 - London Launch

Thursday 22nd August 2013 6:30pm - 8:30pm 107 Charing Cross Road Literary Event, Free Event

The White Review, a new arts and literature quarterly, launches its latest issue featuring new fiction, essays, reportage, poetry, artwork and interviews.

'Writing by women simply isn't read, received, or written about in the way writing by men is,' writes Lauren Elkin in her essay 'Barking from the Margins: on écriture féminine', featured in the latest issue. To mark the launch, Lauren will be in conversation with Katherine Angel, author of Unmastered: A Book On Desire, Most Difficult To Tell, on the subject of women's writing.

The White Review No. 8 features interviews with artist Sophie Calle, novelist Deborah Levy and the author and filmmaker Chris Kraus. There is original fiction from China Miéville, Eley Williams and the winner of the inaugural White Review Short Story Prize (sponsored by the Jerwood Foundation), essays by Legacy Russell on American art collaborative Bruce High Quality Foundation and Orlando Reade on Queensway Computer Market, and a new poem from John Ashbery alongside Sumana Roy, Eugene Ostashevsky and Jack Underwood. Art is supplied by Claudia Wieser, Ben Berlow and Guy Gormley.

A complementary drink will be available.
As is traditional, the after-party will take place at the Phoenix Artist's Club across the road.

Venue: The Gallery at Foyles
Tickets: Free but must be reserved in advance. Please email editors@thewhitereview.org to reserve a place.
