CANCELLED Italics Workshop with the Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society - Led by Janet Mehigan

Saturday 19th October 2013 1pm - 3pm 107 Charing Cross Road Chargeable Event

CANCELLED DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES Italic writing has its beginnings in the Renaissance in Italy during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. It is a delightful, flowing and rhythmical script with springing arches and a pleasant and comfortable forward slope. It is generally written at speed, with fewer pen lifts than other scripts and lends itself to a wide range of letter variations. It is the most important script for the modern calligrapher as it is capable of being used with great expression for the written word, encompassing the more formal civic address to the flourished, dancing design on a Christmas card. In this short workshop led by Janet Mehigan we will use a pen and experiment with Italic letter shapes to create a flowing and exciting piece of writing.

Tickets: Sorry, this event has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances
Venue: The Gallery at Foyles Charing Cross Road
