BRISTOL BOOK LAUNCH: Rebecca Lisle - Brightling

Wednesday 12th February 2014 6pm - 7:30pm Bristol, Foyles, 6 Quakers Friars, Cabot Circus, Bristol, BS1 3BU Literary Event, Free Event

Rebecca Lisle's 25th book, Brightling is published this year by Hot Key Books and is her second book about flying horses. The protagonist is a plucky young girl called Sparrow who, on a quest to find her family gets embroiled in an evil plan led by the strange and dangerous Miss Minter. The story is set in a weird Victorian landscape with match girls, orphanages and a marshland of man-eating krackodyles. The story is also about friendship, loyalty and animals. One of Rebecca's favourite authors is Charles Dickens and Brightling was partly inspired by her love of Oliver Twist. You can hear her in conversation with journalist and novelist Amanda Mitchison. There will also be a book signing.
This event is free but booking is advised; please email bristolevents@foyles.co.uk or call the shop on 011 7376 3975.
