Kamila Shamsie - A God in Every Stone: Fiction and the Chaos of History

In her latest novel, Kamila Shamsie (Orange Prize-shortlisted author of Burnt Shadows) presents a rich and vivid tale of friendship, injustice, love and betrayal. Starting in 1914 the novel explores empires fallen and conquered on an epic journey to India, France, England and Turkey. She talks about the relationship between fact and fiction, and about finding inspiration in history.

This event is part of Bristol 2014, a partnership programme commemorating the centenary of the start of the First World War and its impact upon the city.
