Book Launch: Spacejackers by Huw Powell

Saturday 5th July 2014 3pm - 5pm Bristol, Foyles, 6 Quakers Friars, Cabot Circus, Bristol, BS1 3BU Children's Event, Free Event

Spacejackers is the first book in an exciting new adventure series for children aged 8 - 12 years old.

Jake Cutler has been raised by cyber-monks after being abandoned on a remote planet, deep in the seven solar systems. But Jake has a passion for the stars, and a thirst for adventure. When he is 13 years old, space pirates attack the monastery where he lives, forcing him to escape on a grubby old cargo hauler called the Dark Horse. He embarks on an incredible voyage through space in search of his missing father and the mythical planet Altus, and soon discovers that the universe is a vast and dangerous place - and that you should never trust a space pirate.

Join Huw Powell, the debut author of Spacejackers, to celebrate the launch of this thrilling new series. Hear all about how he wrote the book, listen as he reads excerpts, and enjoy activities, music and refreshments for all the family - plus get your copy of Spacejackers signed!

Huw Powell grew up in the village of Pill in North Somerset, and started writing while working in London. He now lives in Portishead. He will be supporting the National Literacy Trust's 'Premier League Reading Stars' project this year.
