Granta 128: American Wild Launch with Andrew Motion, Adam Nicolson & Sigrid Rausing
American Wild: it can kill you, or exhilarate you. It's always there, a character in its own right in the great unfolding narrative of American writing. The latest issue of Granta is dedicated to stories of the wild, from Adam Nicolson's report from the Blue Range Wolf Recovery Area in Arizona and New Mexico to Claire Vaye Watkins on a lost child in a dystopian California. Anthony Doerr writes about pioneer John O'Farrell and his family in Boise, Idaho; David Treuer describes cage fighting on Leech Lake Reservation in Minnesota. Martin Amis's 'Self-Portrait' imagines some cats chatting in a Brooklyn backyard. And in a new poem by Andrew Motion, the narrator takes himself into the wilderness and solitude in the footsteps of Henry David Thoreau.
Join Granta 128 contributors Andrew Motion and Adam Nicolson for readings and conversation with Granta editor Sigrid Rausing to launch the new issue. A drinks reception will follow.
