Ray's Jazz: Jonny Dexter

Drawing inspiration from Stan Getz, Lester Young and Warne Marsh, saxophonist Jonny Dexter's sound marries formal training with venue and festival experience. His band, influenced by the West Coast School, plays with a heavy emphasis on melody and swing.

Venue: The Auditorium, Level 6

Reviews

A lovely hommage to Getz and Brubeck, with a nod to Chet Baker, albeit without trumpet. It's also really good to see (along with other recent Foyles performers) a new crop of young talent emerging, acknowledging the greats and adding their own twist.
