Alternative Histories and Steampunk Tales: Alison Morton in conversation with Liesel Schwarz

Wednesday 13th May 2015 6pm - 7:45pm Bristol, Foyles, 6 Quakers Friars, Cabot Circus, Bristol, BS1 3BU Literary Event, Free Event

Discover the unique fantasy realms of Alison Morton, author of alternative history series 'Roma Nova', who will be discussing the endless possibilities writing fantasy novels with steampunk author Liesel Schwarz.

Inspired by the power-driven civilisations of the Roman empire and the strong female role models within her family, Alison Morton created the thrilling three-part alternative history series 'Roma Nova' where Ancient Rome is lead by powerful women. Liesel Schwarz, on the other hand, is a life-long fan of 19th-century Gothic literature and her steampunk series 'Chronicles of Light and Shadow' skilfully combines adventure, romance and the supernatural with darker aspects of the Victorian era.

Enjoy an evening with two inspiring fantasy authors as they delve into the difficulties of setting a novel in a different galaxy, time period or alternative history.

Tickets: Free but booking is recommended - please email bristolevents@foyles.co.uk to reserve your place(s)
