London Centre for Book Arts: Introduction to Handcrafted Books workshop

Saturday 6th June 2015 2pm - 4pm 107 Charing Cross Road Literary Event, Chargeable Event

Come and join the London Centre for Book Arts team to learn how to create simple handmade books from start to finish. Suitable for complete beginners, participants will be guided through folding and manipulating paper using specialist bookbinding tools and will have the chance to learn two different book structures–the pamphlet and the Japanese stab binding. Upon completing the workshop, participants will take home a set of their own hand-crafted books and the skills to make more in their own time using minimal equipment.

London Centre for Book Arts (LCBA) is an artist-run, open-access bindery and print studio providing a range of education programmes for the community and access to equipment and resources for artists. LCBA is based in Fish Island in East London, which was once the heart of London's print industry. Their mission is to promote and foster book arts and self-publishing in the UK.
