An EFG Gramophone conversation with Arabella Steinbacher
Join us for an evening in the company of master violinist Arabella Steinbacher, as she presents from her new Pentatone album and discusses her work in conversation with Gramophone Editor and Publisher Martin Cullingford.
Steinbacher has, since her 2004 debut under Sir Neville Marriner, built a reputation for herself as one of the instrument's leading practitioners, now playing with many major orchestras across the international scene. A CARE Ambassador and the recipient of numerous awards in her native Germany, as well as Gramophone's Editor's Choice Award, Steinbacher is praised again and again for her lyricism, the passion communicated through her music, and for the breadth and depth of her repertoire.
For her latest collection, Steinbacher records two pieces she has lived with for many years — Mendelssohn's Op. 64 and Tchaikovsky's Op. 35 — with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande under conductor Charles Dutoit.
Come along for this evening of music and insight into the work of a uniquely gifted performer, as Steinbacher gives a brief performance with pianist Robert Hunter before joining Martin Cullingford in conversation.
