Award-winning, chart-topping musician Professor Green is no stranger to success. The Hackney-born artist—who has recorded alongside Lily Allen, Emeli Sandé, The Streets and Example—shot to the spotlight with 2010's 'I Need You Tonight' and his debut album Alive Till I'm Dead.
But life wasn't always so giving. Brought up by his grandmother on a tough east London estate, Manderson learned the hard way at school and on the streets before making a name for himself at freestyling parties, captivating crowds with talents he didn't at first know he had. After blazing his way through the inaugural JumpOff MySpace tournament in 2008, Manderson was headhunted by Mike Skinner and signed to his record label The Beats.
Unpacking the connections between his life and his music, in Lucky Manderson braves the impact of his father's death on his work—an event that has manifested both directly and indirectly in his raw, emotionally powerful lyrics since. Empassioned and totally open, Lucky tells the story of the rapper's journey from boyhood to manhood in a gripping tale of overcoming hardship and becoming who you want to be.
