Chinese New Year Celebration: Traditional Chinese Music, Dance and Martial Arts from Goldsmiths Confucius Institute

Saturday 13th February 2016 3pm - 4pm 107 Charing Cross Road Free Event

Take a break from your Saturday shopping for this hour of traditional Chinese music, dance and martial arts to celebrate the Year of the Monkey, as performers from the Goldsmiths Confucius Institute for Dance and Performance visit the Auditorium at Foyles Charing Cross Road.

A stone's throw from Chinatown and host to the biggest language book selection in London, we welcome teachers from the Institute to demonstrate a variety of disciplines—from a Tai Chi demonstration to a Mongolian Chopsticks Dance—in this celebration of the arts and culture of China.

Founded in 2012 in collaboration with Goldsmiths College and Beijing Dance Academy, the Goldsmiths Confucius Institute is the first and currently only Confucius Institute in the world dedicated to dance, performance and the arts. The Goldsmiths CI runs degree programmes and credit courses, along with short courses in Mandarin, Chinese Dance, Martial Arts and Music as well as workshops for schools, institutions and companies.

For more information see the Goldsmiths Confucius Institute website.

This event has been organised with the support of Cypress Books.

Venue: The Auditorium at Foyles, Level 6, 107 Charing Cross Road

Tickets: Free, but reservation is recommended. To reserve, simply email the name of the event, along with your full name and number of attendees, to events@foyles.co.uk
