YA Reception with Martyn Bedford, Siobhan Curham and Nat Luurtsema

Thursday 11th August 2016 6:30pm - 8pm Grand Central Birmingham Literary Event, Children's Event, Free Event

DUE TO UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES THIS EVENT IS NOW CANCELLED. Celebrate established teen writing as well as being at the forefront of new fiction with our first YA Reception in Birmingham.   

We will be joined by Martyn Bedford, Siobhan Curham and Nat Luurtsema will be discussing the thought provoking topic of teen identity.

Martyn Bedford’s debut YA novel, Flip (2011), won four regional prizes and was shortlisted for the Costa Book Awards. His second, Never Ending (2014), was nominated for the Carnegie Medal and his third, Twenty Questions for Gloria, was published in 2016 in the UK, the U.S., and six other countries. A former journalist, Martyn, who has also written five novels for adults, teaches creative writing at Leeds Trinity University.

Siobhan Curham is an award-winning author and was the editorial consultant on Zoe Sugg's (Zoella's) Girl Online, as well as a motivational speaker and life coach. As well as writing several books for young adults, Dear Dylan, True Face, and Shipwrecked, Siobhan has written for many magazines and websites, including Cosmopolitan and the Guardian. Her latest YA novel Moonlight Dreamers, a book that dares you to dream, is published by Walker in July 2016.

Nat Luurtsema is a stand-up comedian, actor, BAFTA-nominated screenwriter and author of the acclaimed Cuckoo in the Nest, a comic memoir for adults. Nat ventures into YA territory with her trademark witty style in Girl out of Water, published by Walker in June 2016. Nat lives in London.

So come along to meet these talented writers, get your books signed and enjoy some complimentary refreshments.
