Creative Writing and Illustration Workshop with the creators of Maggie McGee in conjunction with The Big Read

Saturday 20th August 2016 3pm - 4pm Grand Central Birmingham Children's Event, Free Event

Creators of The Unstoppable Maggie McGee, author Juliet Clare Bell and illustrator, Dave Gray are running an interactive creative writing and illustration workshop in our Birmingham store during the Summer Holidays.

Clare was commissioned to write her new picture book, inspired by the children she worked with at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. The result is The Unstoppable Maggie McGee which tells the story of Maggie McGee’s hospital adventures with her best friend, Sol.

During  this fun-packed afternoon, children will be invited to create an oral story as a group before adapting it to create their own. They will then be shown how to illustrate their stories and to adapt the language to make it as interesting as possible. At the end of the session, each child will get to take home their very own short, illustrated story.

Ideal for children aged 7-12yrs, this workshop is guaranteed to keep your budding writers and illustrators entertained as the holidays draw to a close.

Tickets: This is a free event. To reserve a place simply email events@foyles.co.uk

Venue: Foyles, Grand Central Birmingham, B2 4BF

All £6 from the sale of The Ustoppable Maggie McGee go straight to Birmingham Children's Hospital's Magnolia House Appeal.

This event is in conjunction with The Big Read campaign.
