Renaud Capuçon – Classical Artist Spotlight, Introducing his new Erato album Distant Light: Violin Concertos by Bach and Vasks

Friday 2nd May 2014 6:30pm - 7:30pm 107 Charing Cross Road Ray's Jazz Event, Free Event

Described by the Guardian as 'one of today's outstanding violinists', Renaud Capuçon is at the centre of classical music making in the 21st century. His range of collaborators is beyond impressive, having worked with Abbado, Barenboim and Boulez as leader of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester; Haitink, Eschenbach and Dudamel as a soloist; and Argerich, Bronfman and Kovacevich as a chamber musician -- not to mention his frequent collaborations with his equally prodigious cellist brother Gautier.
In his new recording with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe - his first directing from the violin - he juxtaposes Bach's violin concertos in A minor and E major with a haunting work composed 350 years later: Tala gaisma (Distant Light) Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks.
Join us in the intimate surroundings of Gallery at Foyles as Renaud Capuçon performs a short recital and discusses his remarkable career and the unique challenges of his new album.
Followed by an audience Q&A and CD signing.

Tickets: SORRY - THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED
Venue: The Gallery at Foyles on Charing Cross Road
