Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris: The Lost Words

Thursday 5th October 2017 7pm - 8pm 107 Charing Cross Road Literary Event, Signing, Chargeable Event

Join best-selling author and logophile, Robert Macfarlane, and illustrator, Jackie Morris, for a discussion of the lost words of our childhood and the irreplaceable magic of language.

All over the country, there are words disappearing from children's lives. Words from the natural world, from the countryside and the landscape. Words like Dandelion, Otter, Bramble and Acorn represent a space of discovery and imagination, of play and freedom, yet this rich landscape is rapidly fading from children's minds.

Robert Macfarlane, author of Old Ways and Landmarks, casts a series of spells celebrating the poetry of nature in his new book, The Lost Words. Beautifully illustrated by Jackie Morris, it stands against the disappearance of wild childhood and wild places.

Come rediscover a wilderness of words at this exclusive to Foyles event.
