The Crooked Sixpence is an enchanting debut novel introducing young readers to the world to Lundinor, a spellbinding city underneath London where ordinary objects have amazing powers.
Jennifer Bell is going to give an exciting presentation on this magical story, discuss the delights of working in a bookshop and invite budding writers to create their own stories.
Jennifer began working in children’s books as a specialist bookseller at Foyles, Charing Cross Road. Having the privilege of listening to children talk about their favourite books for many years, Jennifer started writing one of her own. She came up with the idea of The Crooked Sixpence while packing for a holiday and wishing she could disappear inside her suitcase and be there already. The world of Lundinor is inspired by sayings from traditional English nursery rhymes, the Cockney markets of her childhood, and, of course her home city, London. The Crooked Sixpence is her first novel.
Delve into the fantastical world of the Crooked Sixpence with this talented début author.
