Xuefei Yang, Artist Spotlight – Launch of 'Bach Concertos'

Tuesday 27th March 2012 6:30pm - 7:30pm 107 Charing Cross Road Music Event, Free Event

It is no overstatement to describe classical guitarist Xuefei Yang as a musical pioneer. Born in Beijing at a time when Western music and instruments were banned, she became the first guitarist in China to enter a music school and the first to launch an international professional career.
Since her first public appearance at the China International Guitar Festival at the age of 10, she has gone on to perform in 40 countries around the world, including concerts at the Wigmore Hall, Philharmonie Berlin, Concertgebouw Amsterdam and Carnegie Hall.
Tonight she joins us in the Gallery to introduce her new EMI Classics album Bach Concertos, an all-Bach programme anchored by three concertos newly arranged for guitar and string quartet, which she describes as 'a substantial and significant addition to the guitar repertoire'. At this exclusive, intimate event, Xuefei Yang will demonstrate her prodigious talent in a short performance, after which she will take questions from the audience on her fascinating career and the challenges of adapting some of Bach's greatest works.
At the end of the event you will have the opportunity to meet Fei as she signs copies of her new CD.

Venue: The Gallery at Foyles
Tickets: Free, but need to be reserved by adding the required number to the basket below or by emailing events@foyles.co.uk. No physical tickets will be issued: the order confirmation you will receive after adding ticket/s to your basket is your proof of reservation.
