Foyles - UK Bookseller of the Year 2008

Foyles Staff and Sponsors
Foyles Staff with sponsors of the UK Bookseller of the Year Award, Bowkers UK, the Chairman of the Publishers Association & 2 Nibbies!

Just as the film world has the Oscars, the book trade has the Nibbies, our coveted industry awards that celebrate the best of publishing and bookselling.

And as a loyal fan of Foyles we wanted you to share in our excitement at being named UK Bookseller of the Year 2008 and Chain Bookselling Company of the Year.

In a glittering ceremony in Brighton on Tuesday 13 May Foyles first scooped the award for Chain Bookselling Company of the Year beating off competition from Waterstone's, Blackwell UK, Borders UK, Hughes & Hughes, Tesco & W H Smith, to prove that size isn't always everything and to really fly the flag for independent bookshops.

We were then immediately pitched against the winners of the other retail category sections, Mr B's Emporium of Reading Delights (Independent Bookshop of the Year and a really fantastic bookshop well worth a visit if you're ever in Bath) and Amazon.co.uk (Direct Bookselling Company of the Year) to win overall UK Bookseller of the Year 2008.

We're very proud to have won both awards against such extraordinary and impressive competition and if you come into Charing Cross Road you can see our trophies proudly displayed in a cabinet on the Ground Floor.

Finally we just wanted to thank all of you - we're nothing without our customers and we hope to see you in any of our stores very soon.
