Our Drama & Film Department is a mecca for the thriving local film and theatre business, carrying books on all aspects of stage and screen. Students will find all they need for courses in film and drama, with books on theory, criticism and all practical aspects.
Our film section contains screenplays and books on specific films, directors and genres, as well as comprehensive guides such as Time Out and Leonard Maltin. For the budding filmmaker, we have guides on all aspects of the process from script-writing and directing to finance and production. We have hundreds of DVDs you won't find elsewhere: we focus on classic, arthouse, avant garde and foreign language films.
For theatre buffs, we have an extensive range of scripts, including the major publishers such as Methuen, Nick Hern, Oberon and Faber, and guides to drama from Ancient Greece to Broadway. We have a large section devoted to William Shakespeare, including the Arden, Royal Shakespeare Company, Penguin, Oxford and Norton editions, as well as biographical and critical works.
If you're involved in your own production, we have guides for directors and producers, lighting technicians and set and costume designers. Aspiring actors will find plenty of assistance, including monologues for auditions, reference titles such as the annual Contacts directory, voice training guides and accent CDs. For the less conventional performer, we have sections devoted to puppetry, ventriloquism and the circus. And for further inspiration, we have biographies of the all the great actors and directors, from all-time greats to the latest Hollywood icons.
