Celebrate a year of the dazzling new Foyles flagship with this evening in the company of Hanif Kureishi, CBE.
An award-winning author, screenwriter, essayist and filmmaker, London-born British Pakistani writer Kureishi joins us to present Love + Hate, a collection of stories and essays guaranteed to inspire, provoke and delight.
As author of The Buddha of Suburbia, The Black Room, Intimacy, The Last Word and more, Kureishi has built up a body of captivating, critical and darkly comic work, elaborating upon themes of race, class, sexuality and the religious divide between east and west. Famed too for penning the screenplay for 1985 film My Beautiful Launderette, Kureishi has also established himself as one of our foremost screenwriters, going on to write Venus in 2006 and Le Week-End in 2013.
Appearing to discuss this characteristically bold, inventive collection of short stories and essays on the relationship between love and hate - like the tale of a Pakistani woman starting a new life in Paris, an account of Kafka's relationship with his father, and a reflection upon the real-life conman who stole the author's savings - Kureishi introduces his latest triumph in our flagship Auditorium.
As well as a regular ticket option, we are also offering customers the opportunity to purchase a Book & Ticket package: for just £20 you can get a ticket and collect a free copy of Love + Hate upon arrival at the Auditorium (RRP £14.99).
