Nightwatchman - The Sportswriters, with Tom Holland, Dileep Premachandran, Jon Hotten & John Stern

Monday 10th June 2013 6:30pm - 8:30pm 107 Charing Cross Road Literary Event, Chargeable Event

Tonight we celebrate a fantastic summer of cricket with the launch of the latest volume of The Nightwatchman, the Wisden Cricket Quarterly, a collection of original essays with a vaguely cricket theme by some of the best writers about the sport.

Hosted by John Stern, editor of The Essential Wisden: An Anthology of 150 Years of Wisden Cricketers' Almanack and former editor of Wisden Cricketer, the evening will give guests the opportunity to hear the panel of experienced journalists and authors - all contributors to The Nightwatchman - discuss writing, particularly about cricket, in the modern era.

The panel consists of cricket lover and best-selling historian Tom Holland (whose books - Rubicon, Persian Fire, Millennium and Shadow of the Sword - cover the rise and fall of ancient empires), Dileep Premachandran, editor-in-chief of Wisden India, and Jon Hotten, author of Muscle and The Years of the Locust and writer of the hugely popular blog The Old Batsman.

The evening will be rounded off with an audience Q&A session, your chance to quiz the experts on all aspects of writing today, about cricket or other topics. There will be signed copies of The Nightwatchman and the authors' other books for sale on the evening.

Venue: the Gallery at Foyles

Tickets: £5. Please note, no physical tickets will be issued, the email confirmation you will receive is proof of your reservation.
