Maths Investigator is a secret spy agency whose mission is to make maths fun and exciting. The series has been extensively trialled and developed to offer schools a fresh and exciting way to combine the content and structure of the 2006 Mathematics Framework with the principles of the Primary Strategy 'Excellence and Enjoyment' guidance - to raise standards whilst making learning fun. The Maths Investigator approach focuses on developing the key skills of problem solving, speaking and listening, and using and applying maths. It uses the engaging spy context to integrate maths into problem solving and give pupils a clear purpose for learning. The Differentiation Guide provides support and extension activities for each unit to ensure pupils at all levels make progress. Support activities reinforce key concepts for lower attainers with clear guidance on useful questions to ask and alternative methods to try. Open-ended challenge activities broaden and deepen understanding for higher achievers. Key assessment for learning ideas address common misunderstandings.
