author Neil Gaiman has hinted that he has written an episode of Dr Who, which could appear on TV screens across the country early next year.

The author, who has recently won a number of literary prizes and has seen the film adaptation of his book Coraline receive an Oscar nomination for the Best Animated Feature Film, says he has been a lifelong fan of Dr Who.

Speaking at the SFX Awards this weekend, after picking up the accolade for best comic book, the writer said: 'I know it's cruel to make you wait for things, in about 14 months from now, which is to say, not in the upcoming season but early in the one after that, it's quite possible that I might have written an episode.'

Revealing that he had already toyed with titles for potential episodes, he said a working title of The House of Nothing was no longer being used, adding: 'Countdown. You've got about 14 months!'ADNFCR-2557-ID-19605103-ADNFCR
