Monster Republic set for big screen
Date: 09/02/2010
The Monster Republic series by debut author Ben Horton will be made into a series - even though only one instalment has been published to date.
Random House Children's Screen Entertainment revealed that it will work with Komixx Entertainment to bring Horton's sci-fi novel Monster Republic: The Divinity Project to the big screen.
The book, which was released in January and revolves around a group of children who have mutated into monsters, was written to capture the imaginations of teenagers who are used to being entertained by videogames and iPhones.
Philippa Dickinson, managing director of Random House Children's Books, said that the 'innovative project' will show how books can develop from being just a manuscript into a full multimedia platform.
Reg White of Hothouse Fiction, which is developing video game and mobile screen content for the project, commented: 'I'm delighted to see that Monster Republic is living up to expectations and attracting a great deal of positive attention.'
A review on the Wonderous Reads blog praised Horton's book for its 'non-stop action' and 'fantastic' plot.
