Two Book Publishing Deal for Foyles Bookseller Chloe Coles

Chloe ColesHot Key Books have acquired a new YA series by debut author and bookseller Chloe Coles. The series stars sixteen year-old Paige Turner, and is a laugh-out-loud, sparky teen series about female friendships, bookshops and fighting for a cause.

In the first book in the series Bennett’s Bookshop has always been a haven for sixteen-year old Paige Turner. It’s a place where she can escape from her boring hometown, hang out with her best friend Holly and also earn some money. But, like so many bookshops, Bennett’s has become a ‘casualty of the high street’. Paige is determined to save it but time is ticking and that’s not the only issue Paige has. How is she going to fend off the attractions of beautiful fellow artist, Blaine? And more importantly, will his anarchist ways make or break her bookshop campaign?

Originally from Northampton, Chloe studied Illustration at Cambridge School of Art, before moving to London. She has worked in bookselling since the age of sixteen, and now works as a Children’s Specialist and Assistant Buyer at Foyles Charing Cross. As well as a writer and bookseller, Chloe is also an artist and sings in a band with her best friend.

Chloe said: 'Being surrounded by books in one of London's best loved bookshops has been a major part of writing this story. It's a constant source of inspo and has provided me with so many great opportunities to meet other authors and book-y people, to able to soak up all of their top tips and writing advice. I've worked in various bookshops since the tender age of sixteen. I've grown up in them (!) and this book is a product of that really. I cannot wait to see my own book at Foyles once it's out next year.'

Felicity Johnston, Commissioning Editor at Bonnier Zaffre commented: ‘Chloe is a dream author. She has a brilliant voice, her characters are funny, loveable and outrageous and she writes teenage friendships with the most wonderful warmth and authenticity.’

Described as Louise Rennison meets Holly Bourne, the first book in the series will be published in June 2018, with the second in October of the same year.
