Arts Council appoints former MLA staff

6th July 2011

Nicola Morgan will become the new libraries director at the Arts Council after the winding up of the Museums, Libraries and Archives (MLA) council on October 1st this year.

Ms Morgan is currently programme manager at the MLA but will make the transition along with Hedley Swain, director of programme delivery at the MLA, who will fill the post of director, museums and renaissance at the Arts Council.

Charlotte Johns, who currently holds the position of renaissance programme coordinator at the MLA, will become the Arts Council's director of museums and investment.

Commenting on the appointments, Alan Davey, chief executive of Arts Council England, said they are 'great news' for both the council and the museums and libraries sectors.

'Based on their experience at MLA and elsewhere, Hedley, Nicola and Charlotte will bring a wealth of expertise and creative thinking to their new roles and we look forward to working with them as we address the opportunities and challenges ahead,' he added.
