Author Blog Awards shortlist unveiled

7th April 2010

The shortlist for the inaugural CompletelyNovel Author Blog Awards has been whittled down from more than 500 nominations, the organisers have revealed.

Over 15,000 people have submitted nominations for the prize, which is backed by publishers such as Penguin, Faber & Faber, Bloomsbury and Random House, with the most popular making it through to the shortlist.

'The result is a diverse mix of authors blogging from very different perspectives. It includes superstar authors such as Neil Gaiman [and] newcomers to the publishing world such as Gavin James Bower,' CompletelyNovel added.

Other writers shortlisted for the award include A Kind of Intimacy novelist Jenn Ashworth, children's horror author Barry Hutchison, travel writer Alice Griffin and Paulo Coelho of The Alchemist fame.

The winners of the Author Blog Awards will be decided by public vote and announced on April 21st at the London Book Fair's official Tweetup.

Other writers hoping to win praise for their blogs include British journalist David Osler, The Guardian's David Smith and poet Madam Miaow, who are included in the longlist for the 2010 Orwell Prize.
