Author Richard Morgan writes video game plot

15th April 2010

Best-selling science fiction writer Richard Morgan has created a new plot for the video game Crysis 2.

Following on from the success of his popular novels, which include Altered Carbon and Broken Angels, Morgan claimed that his venture into the realm of console games was just as exciting.

He said: 'Video games are one of the only things in my life I would qualify as a complete addiction.'

'The medium has every bit the potential for exciting and emotionally charged storytelling as literature and film, and I'm excited to explore this format,' he added.

Crysis 2 takes the familiar tack of "one man tries to save the world from total invasion by an alien race".

Players will use advanced weaponry and extra-sensory perception to help defeat the alien horde and return peace and tranquillity to the streets of New York, the game's developer EA said.

Children's author Anthony Horowitz is another writer who has turned his hand to scripting a video game.
