Business author Mark Hamel wins The Shingo Prize

19th May 2010

Successful business author Mark Hamel has won this year's Shingo Prize Research & Professional Publications Awards.

The writer picked up the award for his long-standing commitment to business process improvement, which is exemplified in his Kaizen Event Fieldbook.

Awarded at this week's Shingo Prize Annual Conference, the accolade recognises and rewards new research and writing in the field of business operational excellence.

Commenting on the win, Hamel said: 'Receiving the Shingo Research & Professional Publication Award is truly an honour and, at the same time, very humbling.'

'The award is recognition of not only my work, but also that of the Kaizen Event Fieldbook contributors, reviewers [and] editors,' he added.

Hamel's book promotes the Training Within Industry programme, which was developed during World War II as a means of combating financial austerity by boosting process efficiency.
