David Peace to write on Geoffrey Boycott

25th August 2009

The Damned United author David Peace has confirmed that he is to write a book about the cricket legend Geoffrey Boycott.

Speaking at The Big Issue event at the Edinburgh International Book Festival this weekend, Peace confirmed that the former England batsman Geoffrey Boycott will be the subject of his 11th book, reports The Big Issue Scotland.

One of Peace's more famous works, The Damned United, was recently made into a film starring Michael Sheen.

The book tracks manager Brian Clough's brief 44-day spell as Leeds United manager.

The film adaptation also stars Colm Meaney, Jim Broadbent and Timothy Spall.

Yorkshire-born Peace also contributed to the acclaimed British drama Red Riding, which was televised earlier this year.

Peace's latest book, Occupied City, was published earlier this month.

Geoffrey Boycott writes for The Daily Telegraph and is one of the UK's leading cricket pundits.
