Kevin Barry's Beatlebone wins Goldsmiths Prize

Kevin BarryThis Goldsmiths Prize has been won by Kevin Barry for Beatlebone. Now in its third year, the prize was set up to celebrate fiction that breaks the mould or explores new possibilities for the novel form.

It is open to novels written in English by citizens of the UK and the Republic of Ireland and published in the same calendar year by a British publisher. The award comes with a cheque for £10,000.

It has previously been won by Ali Smith for How to be Both and Eimear McBride for A Girl is Half-Formed Thing.
