James Bond backlist acquired by Vintage Books

19th March 2012

James Bond is once again to be published by the Random House Group, after the company's imprint Vintage Books snapped up the rights to Ian Fleming's back catalogue.

The publishing company acquired the rights to the author's 14 Bond books as well as his two non-fiction works as part of a ten-year deal.

Fleming's first 007 novel Casino Royale was originally published in 1953 by another Random House imprint Jonathan Cape.

'We are delighted to be reuniting James Bond with his original publisher,' said Corinne Turner, managing director of Ian Fleming Publications, which has been publishing its own e-book versions of the classic spy novels.

'This new deal, incorporating both print and e-book formats, represents a significant step-change for Ian Fleming and his work.'

Richard Cable, managing director of Vintage Publishing, said he was excited to be working on books featuring 'one of the most iconic of all literary creations'.

Bond fans will be able to snap up the new versions of the books in the summer in either Vintage paperback or Vintage Classics style, as well as on their e-reader.
