Jane Lovering scoops RNA Romantic Novel of the Year Award

18th May 2012

Jane Lovering's Please Don't Stop the Music has scooped the Romantic Novel of the Year prize at the Romantic Novelists' Association (RNA) Awards.

Lovering's novel had previously triumphed in the Romantic Comedy Novel of the Year category and went up against other RNA winners to determine the recipient of the overall award.

She beat off stiff competition from genre stalwarts including Katie Fforde, who won the Contemporary Romantic Novel of the Year award for Summer of Love, and Rosie Thomas, whose book The Kashmir Shawl was named Epic Romantic Novel of the Year.

Please Don't Stop the Music is the debut novel from the part-time science technician, who becomes the 53rd winner of the prize.

Anne Ashurst, RNA chairman, commented: 'Warmest congratulations to Jane and my personal thanks for making me hoot with laughter.

'What an achievement to become Romantic Novelist of the Year with one's first novel for talent-spotting publishers Choc Lit! A great read and well-deserved success.'

Lovering follows in the footsteps of Jojo Moyes, who won the RNA Romantic Novel of the Year for the second time last year with The Last Letter from Your Lover.
