Polly Dunbar named Booktrust's online writer in residence

13th September 2010

Polly Dunbar, author of the award-winning children's book Penguin, has become Booktrust's fourth online writer in residence.

She will be inviting visitors to the Booktrust's website into her studio, where she will provide them with a virtual view of her sketch book and give tips to budding book illustrators.

Visitors to the site will also be able to download an exclusive picture book created especially for Ms Dunbar's residency.

In 2007, Penguin won the Nestle Silver award and the Booktrust Early Years awards, as well as the Red House award in 2008.

The book has been made into a successful puppet show along with her other offerings Shoe Baby and Flyaway Katie.

'I am delighted to be taking on the post of Booktrust online writer/illustrator in residence,' said Ms Dunbar.

As well as illustrating her own work, Ms Dunbar has also provided pictures for a number of other authors' books, including David Almond's My Dad's a Birdman.
