Seven-figure book deal for Twilight fan fiction author

6th August 2012

A Twilight fan fiction author has landed a seven-figure book deal following on from the success of EL James' Fifty Shades of Grey series.

Gabriel's Inferno and its sequel Gabriel's Rapture follow main character Professor Gabriel Emerson, a sophisticated academic who has a dark past and becomes involved with an innocent student.

The romance 'sends him on a journey in which his past and his present collide' according to the book's blurb.

The book started life as online fan fiction The University of Edward Masen, which was posted on the web under the pen name Sebastien Robichaud.

It has already proved popular in ebook format and now the rights have been acquired by Penguin's Berkley imprint.

Little is known about the author, who will go by the pen name Sylvain Reynard for the new edition of the book.

Details found on fans sites suggest that he is Canadian and has written several published non-fiction books, with many commentators speculating that the author is actually a woman.
